Selected Programs and Initiatives

  • Central Intelligence Agency Student Opportunities provide high school, undergraduate, and graduate students internship and cooperative education experiences.
  • The National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is an evidence-based preventive program designed to provide opportunities to 16- to 18-year-olds who have dropped out of school but demonstrate a desire to improve their potential for successful and lead productive lives. The program is 17 months, includes a five-and-a-half month residential phase, and aims to improve life skills, education levels, and employment potential.
  • The National Guard Youth Foundation (NGYF), the nonprofit organization that supports the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, also provides youth scholarship and career development programs.
  • The National Security Education Program awards scholarships to U.S. undergraduate students, fellowships to U.S. graduate students, and grants to U.S. institutions of higher education. These awards are for study or program development in languages and regions critical to national security.

Clearinghouses and Technical Assistance

  • Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Kids’ Zone provides information, games, lesson plans, and discussion points for two student age groups (K-5th grade and 6th-12th grade) and parents and teachers about the CIA, its history of intelligence, and safety.
  • Department of Defense Publications is a repository of DOD-published reports, regulations, and forms, in downloadable PDF versions.
  • Military OneSource Children, Youth, & Teens provides service members and their families with access to resources and support for military life. It also offers support 24/7, telephonically.
  • Military Youth on the Move provides tips and information to children, youth, and parents on the challenges a military lifestyle and everyday challenges.
