Newly Formed Children’s Interagency Coordinating Council Seeks Lived Expert Consultants
The newly formed federal Children’s Interagency Coordinating Council (CICC) is charged with fostering greater coordination and transparency on child policy across federal agencies. The CICC will also examine and periodically report on a broad array of cross-cutting issues affecting child poverty and child well-being.
On behalf of the CICC, the American Institutes for Research (AIR) is recruiting a diverse group of 20 individuals with lived experience (Lived Expert Consultants) to inform and support the work of the council. In addition to supporting the work of the CICC, Lived Expert Consultants will have the opportunity to inform other work within the Office of Human Service Policy (HSP) through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Lived Expert Consultants will be invited to:
- Inform and contribute to strategies and research efforts.
- Participate in listening sessions, key informant interviews, and/or technical working groups.
- Assist in identifying relevant and innovative federal, state, and community policies, programs, and practices.
- Contribute to the quarterly newsletter.
- Attend and present at events and meetings (with the possibility of in-person convenings).
- Review and provide feedback on draft materials.
- Support the dissemination of research.
While not required, lived experts with the following background are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Experience working with federal, state, and community partners to enhance/improve research, policies, and programs focused on children, youth, and families in poverty.
- Experience supporting and/or working directly with children, youth, and families in poverty to access resources and/or advocate for systems change.
Potential applicants must be at least 18 years old and be available up to 20 hours from March 2024 through December 2024. Lived experts will be competitively compensated for their time and effort and offered training and support.
The application deadline was Friday, February 23, 2024, at 5 pm EST. Selected candidates will be invited to a 30-minute video interview in March and final selections are expected to be notified by April.
