DOI Collaborates to Engage Youth in the America’s Natural and Cultural Heritage
Collaboration Purpose
The Department of Interior’s (DOI) collaborative efforts aim to encourage young people, especially those young people who have not previously visited public lands and cultural heritage sites, to become involved in outdoor activities and connect to America’s natural and cultural heritage through employment, volunteer, and educational opportunities. Their efforts include expanding programs such as the Public Land Corps and Youth Conservation Corps to provide employment opportunities for youth, establishing policies that create new pathways to employment within DOI for youth, and increasing the focus on educating youth about their natural and cultural heritage as well as conservation.
